BBC Good Food Show Bloggers Day out at Brompton Cookery School

May 30, 2014 · by munchiesandmunchkins · Leave a Comment

Being a blogger certainly has perks. Especially when you are a food obsessed blogger like me. As a recently chosen BBC Good Food Show blogger I was invited to a day at Brompton Cookery School last week to meet up with the other bloggers, try some of the products which will be on sale at the show and learn some new skills from Marcus Bean.

We decided to stay there the night before rather than attempt a very early morning with a baby and toddler and I’m very glad we did as the B&B is pretty awesome. More to come on that as I do feel a full review is in order as I have so many pretty photos.

The day started with a chat around the table with my fellow BBC GFS bloggers, Katy Truss, Marcus and Rob Swift ( who you will hear more about later) and some pretty delicious cordials from Morgans House. I loved the peppermint and lime – so refreshing. Katy and Marcus chatted a bit about what to expect from the day. Marcus then made everyone hungry by telling us what we would be eating for lunch then we went for a walk in the beautiful gardens for a lesson in herbs..plants and all things green.

If I had a garden like his I doubt I would spend any time indoors.

We moved back inside and Rob Swift started his bread demo. We learned a lot in a relatively short space of time and he definitely has magic hands when it comes to dough.. And holding babies 😉

We were then all given a bit of his magic dough and told to do our own thing. I love baking and creating things at home but I was a bit Arrrgghhh at the thought of doing it in front of everyone but it was really a lot of fun and whilst my bread doesn’t quite look as aesthetically pleasing as Robs it was still so tasty.. We had a car picnic on the way home!

Whilst our bread was baking, Marcus and the Good Food show team were busy making sure our lunch looked and tasted amazing.

And it did. We had a great selection of products to try from some of the BBCGFS traders.. I loved The Garlic Farm chutneys and mayonnaise as well as the super succulent tomatoes and my pistachio meringue from Merangz from so good. We had beautiful ham, breads and the most incredible asparagus quiche with wild garlic pastry. Wow.

It was nice to meet some new Food Bloggers and to spend a day in a real cookery school, so much so that I’m going to plan a trip there again sometime in the near future and take some courses. As cookery schools go I imagine there aren’t many in such a picturesque setting and why not combine it with a stay in the B&B like I did. It was worth every penny.

Great news for my readers, if any of you do want to take cookery courses or buy them as gifts for friends/family you can get a lovely 10% off just by quoting “Munchies and Munchkins” when purchasing.
