Christmas Gift Ideas For Women

December 6, 2015 · by munchiesandmunchkins · Leave a Comment

I know that most men say women are impossible to buy for. Get us something too frivolous and they may say why did you waste your money? Something too sensible .. Where is the romance??

Here are a collection of ideas for all of the females in your life.

First up for the woman who says she doesn’t need anything. A day or a night away, we all need a break. Men and women. Do it in style at The Celtic Manor with a spa break.

This may sound boring but I always love new pyjamas for Christmas. I’ve been window shopping and these gorgeous ones from M & S have caught my eye. Not entirely sure they would look as good on me but aren’t they lovely?

I love OPI nail polish and these miniatures are adorable and really pretty colours. Check out this OPI Nail Polish Gift Set:

How about some French patisserie themed bath goodies? These Cafe De Bain Toiletries are delectable, my favourite is the cherry and almond bath creme:

Eden Project Online Store have some great gifts, I love this Rose, Freesia and Geranium Bath Soak as well as Hasslachers Drinking Chocolate Bar which is 100% natural and soo delicious:

Daniele Ryman Massage Candle. I was sent this a few months ago and I’ve really enjoyed lighting it while I relax in the bath then using the oil after I get out. It made my skin feel soft and smells incredible.

Joy The Store have a wide selection of gifts such as this Ring for Prosecco bell Do you know a Prosecco lover? Make them feel like they are being waited on with this cute bell.

Łuxury bath products from Noble Isle – they have a wide variety of sets to suit different budgets and tastes including this one:

A twist on the traditional cracker with these Bath Fizzer Crackers

I know this is a picnic blanket but I am already looking forward to spring yet the colours of this traditional blanket from Edinburgh Wool Mill are almost festive.

If all else fails an Amazon voucher is always handy.

Oh and I wouldn’t mind a trip to a warm beach with a piña colada in my hand..well a girl can dream hey?

Christmas Presents for 3 Years Plus…

December 10, 2014 · by munchiesandmunchkins · Leave a Comment

Christmas with a 3yr old is going to be fun. Izzy is excited and actually really understands what is going on this year. She also has some ideas about what she wants for Christmas and luckily for us she isn’t aiming for anything too expensive!

So here are some of the things we are buying her and some of the other bits I’ve liked or that she already has and loves.

Dolls are high up on her list. We like this:

Baby Annabell:

And this Tiny Tearsimage doll

And of course all of the accompanying accessories:

A Baby Annabell highchair,Izzy has wanted one of these since playing wdith her cousins a few months ago.

Some Duplo:

Fuzzy Felt – we love Fuzzy Felt and this Doc McStuffins set is pretty cute.

image

Do you have little ones who love to splash in puddles? These Bogs winter boots keep feet dry and warm..plus they look funky!

image

Every stocking needs chocolates and these chocolate gingerbread men are fun and taste great too.
image

We also buy at least one book for Izzy for Christmas and as well as traditional stories we also love Busy Books, we have bought most of them including the Christmas one but I’m sure Izzy would adore the Frozen one..if we could find it in stock anywhere!

How about encouraging the reading even more by buying a Leapfrog Read With Me:

How about some cute Peter Rabbit figures for stocking fillers?

A Christmas Gift Guide For Foodies

December 1, 2014 · by munchiesandmunchkins · Leave a Comment

1.Degustabox– a monthly subscription box of food and drink goodies delivered to your door. I’ve reviewed a number of the boxes this year and think a subscription would make an ideal gift. Fancy saving yourself £3.00? Use code K53V4
image
2. Westons Mulled Cider – although it’s not actually a food item I think you would struggle to find many people who don’t like this delicious, spiced mulled cider from Westons. Encased in a festive box with a easy to use tap, it’s also ideal for parties.

image

3. Alassala Argan Oil and Amlou Paste – Argan oil perfect for use in cooking or to drizzle over salads and Amlou paste ( a combination of toasted ground almonds and high quality Argan oil) great to top Melba toasts and crackers.

image

4. Cheeky Monkeys Cream Chargers – everybody loves a new gadget and if you know someone who fancies themselves as the next Heston Blumenthal why not pick up a molecular gastronomy kit?

5. Pandora Bell – the most incredible sweet treats from honey nougat to real fruit jellies and salted butter caramels. All handmade and available to order online.

image

6. Potash Farm Honey With Cobnuts – this Kentish honey combined with cobnuts would be fabulous in a gourmet hamper or just on its own as a little gift for someone who appreciates good food.

image

7. Foods of Athenry: Do you buy for anyone with a food intolerance or allergy? If so The Foods Of Athenry are the company for you. They cater for dairy free, gluten free, sugar free, wheat free, vegan and vegetarian as well as gluten free. Their products taste great whether you need to avoid certain products or not. I especially like their cookie shots!

image

8. Mulled Wine Spices – I’ve been incredibly impressed by two suppliers of these this year.

Firstly Green Saffron who sell an amazing tub of powder which contains everything you need to add to a bottle of red for a superb mulled wine.

image

Then we have a kit from JustIngredients
which contains cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, star anise, dried orange slices, cloves and a vanilla pod. It’s ever so slightly more complicated than the powered version but it’s got a wow factor which totally won over my family last weekend. It also looks very authentic in a pan which would be nice for parties – I actually made mine in a slow cooker and left on the warm setting.

9.LovePopcorn:
Gourmet popcorn in a variety of flavours such as fiery salsa, cocoa crisp and sweet vanilla.

image

10. The Jelly Bean Factory:: With a multitude of flavours, colours and festive fun you can’t go wrong with some jelly beans in a foodies stocking. I always buy a tube of gourmet beans for my OH’s stocking.
image

11. Raisthorpe Manor: Amazing drinks from an award winning beverage producer. I love their raspberry gin.

image

12. Hotel Chocolat Salted Caramel & Pecan spread: A salted caramel lovers dream. Perfect spread on cakes or even toast. I especially like to heat it up and dip strawberries in it. Yum!
image

13.BBC Good Food Show Tickets:
I can’t imagine any food lover who wouldn’t enjoy a visit to this dazzling array of food and drink stalls. I loved every minute of my last visit.

14. Starbucks Metallic Bead Tumbler This snazzy tumbler would make a great gift for anyone who likes to look stylish while keeping their coffee hot.
image

15. Or maybe something a little cuter? What about this Moose Mug also from Starbucks?
image

Now are you buying for someone special and fancy splashing out a little more, these next three recommendations may appeal if so:

Sous Vide Supreme Demi: You will know from reading this blog just how much I love my Sous Vide Supreme and now there is a new compact version. It’s one of my favourite ever kitchen gadgets and I can’t recommend it enough. A foodie dream.
image

Cookery Courses At Brompton Cookery School – Brompton Cookery School which is run by celebrity chef Marcus Bean is the perfect setting for a cookery course. I was lucky enough to spend a day here learning how to create lovely bread as part of my role with the BBC Good Food Show and we decided to book into the adjoining B&B and the whole experience was amazing ( even with two poorly children in tow) I love the sound of the perfect pastry course.

Oh and did I mention the whole place is pretty as a picture?
image

Tefal Cook4Me Multicooker:

This über multi tasking machine has 50 pre set recipes, it is a pressure cooker, rice cooker, reheater and steamer. It looks a bit like a spaceship and is really useful to both novice and experienced cooks.

Christmas Gifts From Joules

November 2, 2014 · by munchiesandmunchkins · 2 Comments

We love Joules here at our house. From wellies to gilets and soft socks to winter coats they always have the most stylish but super functional products for both adults and children.

Here is a little look at what you can expect from them this Christmas and the products that I would love to add to our festive wish list.

First up for babies and children:

How about these cute fleecey slippers for your baby who is learning to toddle and this beautiful bunny comforter:

Maybe you have an older child as well like me so why not check out my favourite picks for young girls:

I love these ear muffs and pretty floral pyjamas:

Slippers for Christmas are a must in our house and Izzy is just starting to understand the concept of money and paying for things so the purse is a cute stocking filler and ideal for her to keep a little loose change for when we pop to the shops:

Grown ups:

I do love a festive jumper and this one below is a little different to the normal ones which is nice and I could be seriously won over with this weekend bag full of indulgent bath and body treats. I also already know that one of my New Years resolutions HAS to be to be more organised and this family organiser will help as well as pretty up my kitchen a little. I also love new PJs for Christmas Eve as it’s a family tradition:

Would be rude not to buy him anything at all soooo.. Why not these comfy lounge pants or this rather stylish shirt?:

What are your favourite traditional ( or not ) gifts for Christmas? Are you a Joules fan like me?

You can check out LOTS more gift ideas on the Joules website.
