Teething Gems

September 19, 2014 · by munchiesandmunchkins · 1 Comment

Chloe has nearly seven teeth. SEVEN.

Each one didn’t exactly appear overnight. They were accompanied by days and especially NIGHTS of crying, whining, clinging and a severe lack of sleep for all of us.

Apart from the obvious medicines and soothing gels there are few things I wouldn’t be without now from a wide selection of teething toys and gadgets which we seem to have accumulated over the past few years.

Munchkin UK Massaging Teether:

I was sent this as part of my role on the Munchkin blog ambassador panel and Chloe ( and Izzy ) really loves to chew and play with it. The teether vibrates when they clamp down on it so I imagine it gives poor gums a little massage..similar to when we rub it with our fingertips. You can buy them from Amazon for £6.99 with free delivery if you have a Prime account.

Sophie La Girafe toys:

We have long been fans of Sophie teething toys here. We first bought a Sophie giraffe in France when Izzy was about 9 months old and going through teething hell, it was chewed..thrown.. cuddled and played with until it got lost. We then bought a slightly different version for Chloe when she was about 4 months old which again got lost! Arrggh. Lucky for us I was then offered the latest Sophie toy to review and it’s a hit.

You can buy it on the official Sophie La Girafe websitefor £10.99

Gumigem Teething Jewellery:

I was sent a Gumigem teething necklace and bracelet a few months back and it has been used over and over again. The bracelet is the teething toy I most often pass back to Chloe in the car if she is whining and the necklace is fabulous for distracting her while feeding. It’s also used constantly when she has a tooth breaking through. It’s jewellery that I feel quite comfortable wearing and it goes with lots of outfits.

You can buy this set and more on the Gumigem website

Funky Giraffe Bibs:

If you have had any teething experience you will know that bibs, muslins and extra tops always come in handy. Our favourite bibs for teething are from Funky Giraffe UK. Stylish and cute. Funky and functional. So many designs. Such a reasonable price.

Camp Bestival Packing List – Part 2

July 17, 2014 · by munchiesandmunchkins · 4 Comments

Another 5 Camp Bestival packing list essentials tonight:

1.Bibs:

You don’t want to take endless onesies and tee shirts so bibs are an essential. We love these cool bandana bibs from Funky Giraffe:

20140717-232318-84198459.jpg

2.Plasters & Painkillers:

The last thing you want when you are miles away from home is a teething, screaming baby with no calpol or teething granules etc to soothe.. Or a teeny tiny graze which your toddler demands needs a plaster immediately to find you forgot your first aid kit. Pack it all.

3.Frozen cocktails:

This is a genius idea that I picked up from someone a few years ago. You buy cocktail pouches ( available from most supermarkets but also places like home bargains etc ) and freeze them then pop them in your cool bag to keep your other food items cool and as they defrost you can enjoy them sitting outside your tent whilst your children collapse in a tired heap after the busy days.

Worth checking out Camp Bestivals alcohol policy:

You are allowed to bring in your own alcohol (for personal consumption in the camping fields) but only up to reasonable amount per person. Once you have entered the event you cannot re-enter with more alcohol.supplies.

4. Buggys/wagons/prams etc:

The camping/boutique and campervan fields are a bit of a walk from the car park so use your buggy or wagon to make less trips back and forth. Most of the festival areas are grassy and well maintained but a pram or buggy with large wheels ( ideally an all terrain one) is best just in case the weather turns.

5. Baby carrier/sling:

You may not want to push your buggy about everywhere and your toddler/older child who may protest that they are too big for a pram will suddenly decide they are tired and need to be carried ALL the way back to the tent so a baby carrier is ideal. We are taking a Boba 4G which can be used for both Chloe ( 8 months old) and Izzy ( nearly 3yrs old).

That’s all for today… More packing tips tomorrow.

Funky Outfit – Funky Giraffe Review

March 19, 2014 · by munchiesandmunchkins · Leave a Comment

We have quite a few Funky Giraffe products in our home. From bibs to Christmas stockings. They make really cute baby bits and I’m always really happy with the quality.

Whilst at the recent Baby Show at London Excel Chloe was offered a pretty dress and bib set to try out.

She looks adorable in it.. Biased I may be. It’s made of a really soft cotton and very comfy and easy to put on/take off.

I may have just realised that they make these up to age 3yrs.. Incredibly tempted to buy it for Izzy!

Visit Funky Giraffe for more cute outfits!

I quite fancy this next..

A very special stocking – Funky Giraffe review

December 16, 2013 · by munchiesandmunchkins · Leave a Comment

Chloe isn’t even 4weeks old yet and she’s already started having review items sent out to her – what a lucky girl! Ha.

Last week we received this very lovely First Christmas Stocking from Funky Giraffe.

20131216-102219.jpg

It’s a really pretty, padded stocking which is just big enough for some gorgeous, squishy newborn toys or to maybe try putting your baby in.. :-p

20131216-102522.jpg

Her bottom was just a little too big!

At a bargain £8.00 I would highly recommend it and definitely worth checking out the rest of the Funky Giraffe site for some lovey baby bandana bibs such as this fave of mine the skull bandana – super cute!

*I was provided with this stocking free of charge in exchange for an honest review

Funky Mothers Day bibs from Funky Giraffe – competition

March 6, 2013 · by munchiesandmunchkins · 2 Comments

I have a cute little competition here for my lovely readers. A set of 3 bibs from Funky Giraffe designed especially for Mothers Day.

Funky Giraffe was set up in 2009 by Yasmin Drury, having worked for a major retailer she was all too aware of the cost of production and the massive mark up charged by companies. As a mum herself, she knew what she wanted for her son and set out to produce funky designs at a reasonable price.

Funky Giraffe only use fabric made to OEKO-TEX standard 100 for baby garments. They print their own items and only use water based inks, (while solvent based inks are legal, they come in big tins marked with a big X and Harmful, as bibs get chewed this did not seem right). The company only use inks that are completely non toxic.

Find out more about Funky Giraffe:

Facebook – Funkygiraffebaby
Twitter -@FunkyGiraffebib

To enter leave me a comment on the blog, tweet me @writingforfun using #mothersdaybibs or like my Facebook

Or do all 3 and get 3 entries. This is a short competition to make sure you get your prize by Mother’s Day so entry will close at 11am March 7th 2013 and winner will be chosen at random from all entries.

Good luck! I kind of want to win myself! Xx
