I first read about this recipe in a Christmas magazine quite a few years ago and I’ve been making it ever since. It’s a great festive twist on an already delicious baked Camembert.
Cranberries spell Christmas to me.. For some reason I only have cranberry sauce or jelly at this time which is a shame as I love it!
You will need:
A whole Camembert
French baguette/crusty rolls
Wrap a whole Camembert in a foil parcel. Bake in a hot oven for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and hollow a small section out of the middle of the cheese. Place a tablespoon full of cranberry jelly into the hollowed out section and bake for 5 minutes. Serve with some French bread or warm crusty rolls. Delicious.
I’ve been lucky this month, I’ve had some really lovely foodie products sent to me to taste and review. One of these products is Giovanni Rana filled pasta.
For those of you haven’t yet heard of the brand here is some background info for you:
For over 50 years, Giovanni Rana has been recognised as a symbol of good taste and quality products, creating fresh pasta for people to enjoy at home since 1962.
Giovanni’s own culinary journey began as a young boy whilst working in his family’s bakery, taking care of the production and the distribution of bread. With the gradual movement of women into the workplace in the late 50s, however, Giovanni recognised that women increasingly had little time to make fresh pasta at home. Sensing an opportunity, the then baker began crafting hand-made pasta in his own kitchen, using the very best ingredients to create a diverse variety of flavours. With his skill, technique and “obsession” for quality, he perfectly replicated homemade Italian pasta.
His products quickly became “Italy’s Most Loved” and today Giovanni Rana is a trusted source of delicious, classic Italian dishes, which can be easily prepared in the comfort of the home kitchen. His passion for authentic Italian taste, careful attention to selecting the best ingredients, unique preparation and years of experience has set the standard for pasta.
I knew these were being sent out to me a while ago and while I waited we saw some on offer in our local supermarket so we bought two different flavours to try( Chicken & Rosemary Ravioli & Selected Italian Cheeses Ravioli) they were truly delicious. I was pretty excited to receive some more and we received two new flavours: Cured Ham & Cheese Tortelloni & Gorgonzola & Crunchy Mellow Walnut Ravioli I think my favourite is the cured ham and cheese but we have really enjoyed trying all four flavours. Perfect for a light lunch or as part of a main meal. We ate them lightly tossed in butter or olive oil but you could also try with an accompanying sauce.
There are lots of good offers currently on in various supermarkets and I really think if you love pasta you will love this.
* I was sent this product for free in exchange for a review.
Have you heard of the Zanussi Easy Team? If you visit the Zanussi Facebook page you can find out everything you need to know but to sum it up Zanussi are sharing cooking and household tips via Twitter and Facebook to make life easier for busy parents (like me).
I’m a part of the Easy Team which is captained by the very lovely Gino DiCampo and I will be sharing tips with you regularly over the next few months.
The first tip I was sent was one explaining how to bake cupcakes in ice cream cones!
I decided to try out this tip one afternoon in my last week of pregnancy and Izzy was more than willing to help. We had lots of fun.. Got very messy and thoroughly enjoyed the results.
To make it really easy we used a cupcake mix that we just had to add an egg and oil to, this was super simple for Izzy to do all by herself and then we gave her a little help to spoon it into the ice cream cones – be sure to use the flat bottom cones so that they can stand up easily in the oven. Place the cones into cupcake case and bake for the required time.
You could frost to look like an actual ice cream cone with buttercream and a flake or to look like a hot chocolate with choc icing and marshmallows. Yum.
We had lots of fun trying this tip and I recommend you try it and follow the #easyteam for more ideas.
If you have any tips of your own you can share them on the Facebook page and be in with a chance to win a bundle of goodies from Zanussi.
Coming up soon is Microwave Mug Cake which looks delicious.. Will let you know how I get on!
*As part of the Easy Team I receive ingredients/items to help me try out the tips.
What makes a perfect Christmas Day?
What could you make you happy in every way?
The very best present?
The perfect tree
A day that’s all about WE not me
A shiny chocolate coin
At the bottom of your stocking
A turkey that’s golden
And full of gorgeous stuffing
The newest toy
The latest gadget
More cake and sweets than you could ever manage
Soft fleecy throws
Izzy giggling at rudolphs red nose
The Queens speech
A festive film
The Royle family special
Over indulgence …not frowned upon
The nativity story
A onesie with a hood
Bailey hot chocolate
New pants and new socks
A festive mood
This year is extra special
Our first one as four
We will spend it together
Our family is whole
It’s been such a long year
The longest so far
The hardest, my weakest
My strongest of all
So all that I want
For my perfect day
Is my family with me
Healthy, happy in every way
A day that’s all about WE not me.
*”Merry Christmas! This post is my entry into the Tots100/Argos 12 Days of Christmas competition.“
I first joined in with the Me and Mine linky back in October with a pic of myself heavily pregnant with Andrew and Izzy at a family wedding. I remember thinking that the next time I joined in there would be another face in the photo and it didn’t seem quite real. Fast forward 4 weeks and its very real. Chloe has arrived and it feels like she has always been here.
I was tempted to use some Instagram filtering magic on this photo to make me look less tired/slimmer etc etc but hey I gave birth 10 days before this was taken and the main thing I notice when looking at it is how happy I look with my small but complete family.
I wish I had discovered this linky earlier in the year as it’s a great idea to take more family photos but I look forward to next years Sibling linky as I already have some fabulous photos of Izzy and Chloe and also the Me and You linky as I would love some more pics of me and my OH.
We are big fans of Kiddicare in our house and use both the online site and our nearest store in Bristol for most baby and toddler purchases so when they offered the opportunity to review a toy ahead of Christmas I eagerly accepted.
The biggest problem I had was deciding which toy Izzy would enjoy the most from the range of fun and imaginative toys on offer.
Luckily with so many of the toys currently at half price on the Kiddicare site I can happily indulge her in a few more.
The toy we eventually chose is the Buzzing Brains Parking Garage currently priced at £24.99.
Buzzing Brains Parking Garage is a three-level parking garage that will keep your child busy for hours. Its great for imaginative play and perfect for driving adventures
Maybe some people wouldn’t order a toy garage for a little girl but I am more than happy for her to play with all toys be it cars or kitchens. She loves playing with cars and the garage went down a storm.
It’s brightly coloured and easy to put together and includes 2 cars to use in the garage. It has parking bays, a working elevator, fuel pumps and traffic lights so lots of ways to keep a toddlers mind and hands busy. It has been pulled apart, put back together and even sat on (not advised) numerous times already and is still standing strong.
The age recommendation for this product is 3years plus but I feel it would be fine for slightly younger toddlers. Izzy is 2yrs and 3 months old and has had hours of fun playing happily with this toy.
I will post some pics of Izzy playing with the garage when I find my memory card! BABY BRAIN.

So I haven’t posted a giveaway for a little while.. Mean of me yes?
But I have been kind of distracted .. Having a baby and all that. However you have all be so lovely during my pregnancy and since then that you deserve a treat.
So when the lovely people at Master clothing asked me if I would like to give away one of their super snugly beanies to one of my loyal readers I of course said yes.
I have 4 of these beanies myself.. Yes 4. I’m a little obsessed. I love hats and when I find a good one which suits my head ( you know what I mean ) I buy in bulk and also you need different colours for different outfits etc .. Trying to justify my purchases here.
The beanies are really comfy and stretchy whilst looking stylish and not at all elf like as some beanie hats can be. The colours are fab and they are only £9.99.. I have it in fuchsia, burgundy, red and grey and I kinda want to buy the purple!
If you like your hats or are just generally lazy like me and sometimes have rather just got out of bed hair then I can’t recommend them enough AND if that’s wasn’t enough there is even free UK postage at the mo and I have wangled an extra 20% off for you off the entire site which also includes some pretty cool socks (Fun stocking fillers perhaps?):
just use the discount code MUNCHIES20
To enter simple leave a comment saying which colour is your fave and a winner will be randomly drawn on Wednesday 11th December at midday.
* A free product as a prize has been given in exchange for this post.
I don’t know about you but I LOVE the smell of Christmas, my Christmas that is. I guess everyone’s Christmas can smell a little different. No I’m not going mad. What does Christmas smell like to you?
My Christmas smells of…
Shortbread baking in the oven..
Christmas candles or my festive scentsy wax gently filling my house with warm cosy gingerbread or cranberry…
Orange and clove pomanders..
A beautiful ham being carved in the kitchen at my mums on Christmas Eve…
Bubble bath.. I seem to have longer, hotter, bubblier baths at Christmas time with special products which smells divine..
Real Christmas trees..
Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream..for those chapped lips and cheeks…
Waffles and Bucks Fizz …
There are probably more I could list but for me the above smells embody my Christmas.
What does your Christmas smell like?
I had no idea how Izzy would react to a new baby arriving in our home. After all she is still very much my baby at 2year old. While I was pregnant she showered my bump with love and kisses but I didn’t think she really understood what it meant. On her first visit to see me and Chloe in hospital I followed advice I’d been given by other second time mums and made sure Chloe was in the cot so she could have a good cuddle with me first.. She didn’t spot the cot initially and after diving onto the bed to cuddle me (Ouch..stitches) I had to point out the baby lying just next to us. Her face was a picture. She exclaimed Oh baby.. And then awwww baby.
Her first cuddle..
Since we have come home she has shown just how besotted she is with her baby sister. Every 5 minutes she runs over to check on ‘baby Chloe’ and is interested in every aspect of her life from feeding to changing nappies. Every new visitor gets dragged to see the baby as soon as they come in and in the morning her voice comes over the monitor demanding to see ‘baby Chloe’.
I never thought my heart could love as much as it does right now. I know the road ahead will be far from smooth.. I have sisters of my own and of course at some point they will fall out and squabble but I know how amazing the relationship can be and I’m so thrilled that they will have each other.
